Make It Personal
We ended church singing “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.” Share one way God has been faithful to you this week.
“The enemy doesn’t have any power over me that my thought patterns don’t give him.” What is an area of your life you have seen God replace a lie you used to believe with His truth about the situation? How have you been able to see God move in that area since then?
Pastor Steven shared that if we plant our feet and decide, “this is what I’m meant to do, this is why He gave me this gift, and that is why I experienced this,” we could walk more confidently in our calling. What is something that you’re meant to do, are gifted in, or that you’ve experienced that God is using in your life today?
Read 1 Kings 19:10. Now read 1 Kings 19:14. Elijah gets stuck rehearsing the same story in both of these scriptures. Identify an area where you feel stuck, scared, or frustrated. What’s one practical step you can take to reverse the negative stories you’re telling yourself (e.g., Listen to a worship song, pray with a friend, read your Bible)?
Pastor Steven reminds us to be careful who we let in our head. Think about what you allow to influence your story (people, experiences, social media platforms, news reports, etc.). What ways can you begin to filter who and what you let in your head?
Activating Faith
Let’s become better storytellers than our enemy! Pick one scripture you’ll recite when negative thoughts try to reframe your story. Say this scripture out loud whenever you find yourself allowing negative or fearful thinking to influence your perspective this week. Here are some scriptures to help you get started:
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Psalm 139:14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Prayer Requests And Prayer
Ask eGroup members to share any prayer requests they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for each other during the week.Father, thank You for being the author and finisher of our faith. Help us to hear your voice clearly when other voices try to distract us from Your goodness. Increase our faith to believe we are who You say we are. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
