Conversation Starters

What’s your favorite tradition you had growing up? (e.g. growth chart, holiday food, birthday celebration, etc.)Some people say “it’s the little things in life” that we should treasure. What are some little things you really enjoy? (e.g., the smell of a book, a sunrise, a warm blanket, hearing a child laugh, etc.)Which of these things in Miami would you rather experience: catching the waves on Miami Beach, touring the historic Vizcaya Museum and gardens, walking the trails in Everglades National Park, sampling the food in Little Havana, or watching a pro sports game (e.g., Dolphins, Heat, Marlins, Panthers, etc.)

Review

Ask eGroup members to share their favorite points from the sermon, what spoke to them, a phrase or moment from the sermon they related to the most, or questions they have. If members have a hard time recalling the sermon, talk through your notes and share your favorite points.

Make It Personal

  • What has faith looked like in different seasons of your life? (e.g., just going to church on the weekends, asking lots of questions, praying through doubt, joining an eGroup, learning how to trust God’s timing, challenging yourself to give/tithe, etc.) Have you ever felt like your faith was growing too slowly? (What are some words you’d use to describe your faith and its growth?)

  • What are some ways you’ve grown “little by little” this year?

    • Who are the “some people” God used in your life this year? How is God using you as “some people” in other’s lives right now?

    • Real talk: Have you been more focused on collecting titles or testimonies? Share some ways your focus might have gotten off-balance in your life.

  • Read Mark 8:23. Jesus took the man outside before healing him.

    • What environments have helped you grow/heal this year?

    • What are some ways your environment could be keeping you from healthy change?

    • Share a time when God answered one of your prayers with gradual change. Are you comparing your “slow” to another’s “fast”?

    • How have you lost your vision this year? What do you want to get back? (What’s an area of your life where God met you “once more” this year?)

  • What seems slow in coming that you’re waiting for?

  • What’s something you don’t need to go back to in 2021?

Act On It

Pick one of these actions to take for 2021:

  • Commit to being “some people” for a person you know who really needs that support.

  • Challenge yourself to manage your environment so it can help you grow instead of holding you back.

  • Set small goals for an area of your life where you know you need to make changes little by little. (e.g., eating healthier, reading your Bible, exercise, prayer, etc.)

Prayer Requests And Prayer

Ask eGroup members to share any prayer requests they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for members during the week.Father, thank You so much for showing us a strategy we can use to build a foundation that will help us experience Your favor. Open our eyes to see where we need to grow, and challenge us to take the right steps that will position us to see You move. In Jesus’ name, amen.
