Conversation Starters

  • What is your most anticipated event happening this summer?

  • What is something you wanted, but watched someone else get instead?

  • Holly mentioned wishing there was a “Heaven” app like “DoorDash.” What app do you wish you could have in life?

Review

Ask eGroup members to share their favorite points from the message, what spoke to them, a phrase or moment they related to the most, or questions they may have. If members have a hard time recalling the message, talk through your notes and share your favorite points.

Make It Personal

Read Mark 5:21-35 as an eGroup:

  • Share a time when you felt like others were getting a blessing while you were in the midst of a battle.

  • Holly showed in the story how Jairus went from desperation (Mark 5:23) to hope (Mark 5:24) and then delay (Mark 5:30). What is one thing in your life you’ve prayed over, but it seems as though God has forgotten about? And what are the things you’re saying to yourself about it?

  • Holly encouraged us with two decisions that we must make in our walk with Christ when things are not going as we wanted:

    • “Stay close or drift away?”
Share a time when you had to stay close to Jesus in the midst of a struggle. (Or, share a time when you drifted away in the midst of a struggle.) How did God bless your decision to stay close to Him? (Or what did you learn about God when you drifted away?)

    • “Stay faithful or become bitter?”
How do you feel in situations when life isn’t fair? How do you practically fight off bitterness when you don’t see an answered prayer in your life?

Read Hebrews 4:14-16 as an eGroup:

  • Holly discussed how Jesus is the true empathizer. We can approach God’s grace with confidence, knowing Jesus has felt all that we have been through. How does this change your perspective on your relationship with Jesus? Do you come to Him with confidence?

  • In discussing the faith of Jairus as he saw Jesus pause to heal the woman before his daughter, Holly said we must build our faith on the answered prayers of others. How can the answered prayers of others help you to practically build your own faith?

Act On It

Holly taught us the prescription for waiting on our miracle: Stay close; Look up; and Watch out. Write out your answers to these questions:

  1. Stay Close – What’s at least one tangible thing you can start this week to stay close to God?

  2. Look Up – What’s one short verse from the Bible you can memorize this week to remind you of God’s nearness?

  3. Watch Out – Who is someone you can go to that can empathize with you in this season? Someone who has been there before and persevered?

Prayer Requests And Prayer

Ask eGroup members to share any prayer requests they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for each other during the week.Pray Isaiah 40:28-31 over your eGroup:“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
