Holly has a book club for women who like to read fiction. What’s your favorite book or what’s the latest book you read?Who’s the first friend you remember making as a kid? Or, who was your childhood best friend?Did you like school? What was your favorite or least favorite thing about it?
Ask eGroup members to share their favorite points from the sermon, what spoke to them, a phrase or moment from the sermon they related to the most, or questions they have. If members have a hard time recalling the sermon, talk through your notes and share your favorite points.
Make It Personal
Is it easy or hard for you to make friends? What are your favorite and least favorite things about connecting with someone new?
CHECK YOUR CONNECTION TO CHRIST
What are some of your favorite ways to connect with Christ? How do they help you?
How can we practically check our connection with Jesus? Who’s someone you know who always seems to be connected to Him — what habits or practices do they have that you could copy?
Go deeper. Read John 15:4. God is our source. Have you ever treated a person like your source instead of God? How can we know when we’re doing that?
CHECK YOUR CONNECTION TO OTHERS
Think about the people in your life who you spend the most time around. Do they point you toward Jesus? Talk about some ways they do or don’t. (Which kind of friend are you to others?)
Read John 20:19-20. The disciples had each other when they faced the difficult time after Jesus’ death. Share a time when being connected to the right people made a big difference in your life. What did you learn in that season?
What are the barriers that keep you from connecting with others? (e.g., time, shame, self-confidence, etc.) Share something from Holly’s message that can encourage you to overcome that barrier. (What might have to change so you can deepen your relationship with others? How can you focus on building friendships “in the boat” so you have them when you’re facing a crisis?)
Act On It
Check your connection this week. Do you need to reconnect with Christ, or connect with others? Do two intentional things this week to spend time TOGETHER — time with God and time with the people in your life — so you can create meaningful connection.
Prayer Requests And Prayer
Ask eGroup members to share any prayer requests they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for members during the week.Father, thank You for the people You’ve placed in our lives and for the connection You’ve provided through them and through Jesus. Show us the opportunities we have to strengthen those relationships or create new ones this week. In Jesus’ name, amen.
