A jar full of thank you notes, a walk through God's creation, or a letter to someone you love — there are so many ways to practice gratitude together! Simple activities like these give your family a chance to notice what you're thankful for and turn that gratitude into words of actions

James 1:17 reminds us, "Every good and perfect gift is from above." As you share what you're thankful for, you can help your child recognize the ways God shows His love and care in everyday life.

Choose one of these simple ways to practice gratitude with your family:

  • Start a gratitude jar. Add one thing you’re thankful for each day, then read them together during a meal at the end of your week. (Or save them for a special meal!)

  • Go on a grateful hunt. Take a family walk around the neighborhood or park and point out things around you that you’re grateful for. (e.g., the leaves changing colors, your home, or neighborhood, etc.)

  • Send a thank-you note. Write a letter to a grandparent or friend, and tell them how much you appreciate them.

  • Create a gratitude wall. Pick a spot on the fridge, a bulletin board, or even a window where everyone can add sticky notes with things they’re thankful for. Watch your family’s gratitude grow throughout the month!

  • Pray thank-you prayers. Choose one prayer time each week when, instead of asking God for things, your family simply thanks Him. Thank God for who He is, how He’s helped you, and the people and blessings He’s placed in your lives.
