Setting Faith Rhythms That Last

Faith doesn’t grow through perfection. It grows through patterns.

January always makes us want to start fresh. New plans, new goals, new everything. But what if this year, your family focused less on doing more and instead committed to being anchored more?

Faith rhythms don’t have to be complicated. They just need to be consistent — small, repeatable ways your family connects with God in everyday life.

  1. Start with one moment. Find one ordinary moment, and turn it into a faith moment.

  2. Pray on the way to school or before your kids leave the house.

  3. Ask, “Where did you see God today?” at dinner.

  4. Share one thing you’re thankful for before bed.

Start with one moment. Once it feels natural, you can always add another.

  1. Keep it simple. Skip the pressure to make it perfect. Faith rhythms work best when they feel natural, not forced.

  2. Post one Bible verse a week where everyone can see it.

  3. Play worship music during breakfast.

  4. Try a five-minute devotional once a week.

Simple doesn’t mean shallow — simple makes it easier to create lasting habits.

  1. Let rhythms grow as they do. Faith looks different at every age.

  2. Preschool: Pray simple prayers like, “Thank You, God, for… ”

  3. Elementary: Ask what they learned in eKidz, and talk about it at home.

  4. Middle School: Encourage them to pray for a friend or teacher.

  5. High School: Let them lead — pick a verse or worship playlist for the week.

Let the rhythm grow as they do.

  1. Choose grace over guilt. Some days will go great. Others, maybe not so much. That’s okay! God’s not measuring your success. He’s inviting your family to keep showing up.

Start again. Try again.

Celebrate the small moments of faith that stick.

And if you’re looking for more encouragement, join an eGroup or an eTeam. You can meet other parents, share what’s working (and what’s not), and pray for one another. You weren’t meant to do this parenting thing alone. It takes a village. You can learn more about eGroups and eTeams at elevationchurch.org.
