What We Are Learning In Elementary :: August Week 2
August Overview: God made us on purpose and for a purpose — to show Him in all we do. As we follow God, His Spirit helps us grow and live differently. This month, kids are discovering they can show God to others through how they act, speak, and treat people every day.
Bible Story: David Worships with Joy (2 Samuel 6:12-19)
Main Point: I can show God to others when I show joy.

This week, kids learned about the day David celebrated as God's ark returned to Jerusalem. David worshiped with great joy because he knew God was with His people. David's joy didn't come from having a perfect day — it came from remembering who God is and celebrating His goodness. This story reminds us that real joy comes from God. Even when life isn't perfect, we can choose joy because we know God is faithful, He is with us, and He never changes. When we live with that kind of joy, we help others see what God is like.

When You Get Up: Tell your kid, "No matter what happens today, you can choose joy because God is with you."
While You’re At Home: Take turns sharing something you're thankful God has done for your family.
As You’re On The Way: Ask, "How can showing joy point other people to God?"
When You Lie Down: Pray, "God, thank You for filling our hearts with joy. Help us remember Your goodness every day so others can see You through our lives. We love You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen."
