What We Are Learning In Elementary :: August Week 5
August Overview: God made us on purpose and for a purpose — to show Him in all we do. As we follow God, His Spirit helps us grow and live differently. This month, kids are discovering they can show God to others through how they act, speak, and treat people every day.

Main Point: I can show God to others when I show kindness.

This week, kids learned about a time when David's men won a great victory. Some of the soldiers didn't want to share what they had with the men who had stayed behind, but David chose kindness and generosity instead. This story teaches us that kindness is more than being friendly — it means actively looking for ways to help and care for others, even when they don't expect it or when we don't think they've earned it. When we choose kindness, we show others what God is like.

🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:
When You Get Up: Tell your kid, "Ask God to help you notice someone you can be kind to today."
While You’re At Home: Think of someone your family can bless this week with a kind note, a meal, or another act of kindness.
As You’re On The Way: Ask, "What are some things that can make it hard to be kind? How can we be kind anyway?"
When You Lie Down: Pray, "God, thank You for always showing us kindness. Help us look for opportunities to care for others through our words and actions so they can see Your love. We love You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen."
