What We Are Learning In Elementary :: November Week 2
November Overview: Everything we have comes from God and belongs to Him. God trusts us to take care of what He gives us, including our money. This month, kids will learn how to honor God with what He has entrusted to them by taking good care of it, giving faithfully, saving wisely, spending wisely, and living generously.
Bible Story: The Widow's Offering (Mark 12:41-44)
Main Point: I can honor God when I give.
Memory Verse: “Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” 1 Chronicles 29:14b

One day, Jesus watched people bringing their offerings to the temple. Many rich people gave large amounts of money, but Jesus noticed a widow who gave just two small coins. Her offering might not have looked like much to everyone else, but Jesus told His disciples she had given more than anyone else! Her story reminds us that God cares more about our hearts than the amount we give. Sometimes we might think we don't have enough money for our giving to make a difference. But giving isn't about having a lot! It's about honoring God with what He's given us. When we give, including through tithing, we put God first and show we trust Him.

What do you think it was like for the widow to give those two coins when that was all she had?
Why do you think Jesus was so impressed by the widow's offering, even though other people gave more money?
What might make giving difficult sometimes? How can remembering everything comes from God help you give with a willing heart?

When You Get Up: Encourage your kid, “No matter how much or how little you have, you can honor God by putting Him first!”
While You’re At Home: Talk about how your family practices giving. Share why giving to God isn't just about an amount — it's also about trusting Him, honoring Him, and putting Him first.
As You’re On The Way: Ask, “Why do you think giving is more about our hearts than what we’re actually giving?”
When You Lie Down: Pray, “God, thank You for everything You give us. Help us trust You, honor You, and give with willing hearts. We love You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.”
