What We Are Learning In Elementary :: October Week 3
October Overview: God is always good, no matter what is happening in our lives. Because of His goodness and faithful love, we can choose to be thankful in every season. Gratitude isn't just something we say when good things happen. It's a response to who God is. As kids discover God's goodness through each Bible story, they'll learn they can show thankfulness through their words, praise, service, and generosity.
Bible Story: Isaiah’s Commission (Isaiah 6:1-8)
Main Point: Because God is good, I can serve others.
Memory Verse: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

Isaiah had an incredible vision of God seated on His throne. When Isaiah heard God ask who would go for Him, Isaiah responded, “Here I am. Send me!” The amazing part is that Isaiah said yes before he even knew what God would ask him to do. Seeing God for who He is and experiencing His goodness gave Isaiah a willing heart that was ready to serve. Thankfulness for God’s goodness can move us to action! We can have hearts that are ready to say yes and serve wherever God gives us an opportunity.

What do you think Isaiah was thinking and feeling as he experienced God’s greatness?
Why do you think Isaiah was willing to say, “Here I am. Send me!” before he even knew what God would ask him to do?
Where is one place you could have a willing heart and look for an opportunity to serve this week?
🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:
When You Get Up: Encourage your kid. Remind them, “Because God is good, you can have a willing heart that’s ready to serve today. Keep your eyes open for an opportunity to help!”
While You’re At Home: Ask everyone to think of one way they could serve someone else in your family today. Choose something simple you can actually do, then follow through!
As You’re On The Way: Ask, "What are some things that might make it difficult to say yes when you have an opportunity to serve someone?"
When You Lie Down: Pray, “God, thank You for Your goodness to us. Give us willing hearts that are ready to say yes and serve when You give us opportunities. We love You. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.”
