Bible Story: The Wise Men ● Matthew 2:1–2, 9–11

As a family, read “The Wise Men” (Matthew 2:1–2, 9–11) from the Bible. CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

• What happened in the Bible story? (Wise men followed a star to see Jesus. They bowed, worshiped Him, and gave Him gifts because they knew Jesus is God’s Son.)

• The wise men celebrated Jesus because they knew He is God’s Son. Who gave us Jesus? (God gave us Jesus.)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation: 

• Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room say, “Good morning! Christmas is over, but we can celebrate God gave us Jesus every day!”

• Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “God, thank You for loving every person in the world so much that You gave us Jesus. Help (child’s name) and me remember how special Jesus is every day, not just at Christmas.”

• Bath Time: Add a variety of shapes/toys to bath time including a star. When your child finds the star shape, say, “The wise men followed a special star to Jesus so they could worship Him and give Him gifts.” If your sorter has a heart, when your child finds it, say, “God loved the world so much that He gave us His Son, Jesus.”

• Drive Time: While you’re driving in the evening, look for stars. Talk about how the wise men followed a bright star all the way to Jesus. Say, “When they saw Jesus, they gave Him gifts and worshiped Him!”
