What We Are Learning In Preschool :: February Week 2
Main Point: Jesus takes care of me.
Bible Story: The Lost Sheep • Luke 15:3-7
Memory Verse: “Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me.’” Matthew 19:14 (NLT)
As a family, read “The Good Shepherd” (Luke 15:3–7) from the Bible. CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.
After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:
What happened in the Bible story? (Jesus told a story about a shepherd who looked for his lost sheep and brought it home.)
Jesus takes care of us like the shepherd takes care of his sheep. Jesus told this story to show how God loves us. Does Jesus show us God’s love? (yes)
This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:
When You Get Up: When your child wakes up, say, “Good morning! Jesus is our Good Shepherd, and He always takes care of us.”
While You’re At Home: Play a simple game of hide-and-seek and remind your child, “Just like we looked for each other, Jesus is the good shepherd who looks for those who are lost. He loves us and takes care of us!”
As You’re On The Way: As you ride or walk, look for animals or pictures of animals and say, “Jesus loves us, and takes care of us like a shepherd takes care of sheep!”
When You Lie Down: At bedtime, pray together, “Dear Jesus, thank You for taking care of us. We’re so thankful You love us and are always with us. We love You. In Your name we pray, amen.”
