What We Are Learning In Preschool :: February Week 3
Main Point: Jesus is with me when I’m scared.
Bible Story: Jesus Calms the Storm • Mark 4:35-41
Memory Verse: “Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me.’” Matthew 19:14 (NLT)
As a family, read “Jesus Calms the Storm” (Mark 4:35–41) from the Bible. CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.
After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:
What happened in the Bible story? (A big storm scared the disciples, but Jesus calmed the storm.)
Jesus was with His friends during the storm and helped them. Is Jesus with you when you feel scared? (yes)
This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:
When You Get Up: When your child wakes up, give them a big hug and say, “Good morning! No matter what happens today, remember Jesus loves you and He is with you.”
While You’re At Home: During a quiet moment at home, practice the memory verse with the motions:
“Jesus said, (point up with both hands)
‘Let the children (motion out to others)
come to me.’” (make a “come here” motion with your hands)
Matthew 19:14 (open hands like a Bible)
As You’re On The Way: As you ride or walk, talk about different feelings you might have and say, “When we feel scared, we can remember Jesus loves us and is with us.”
When You Lie Down: At bedtime, ask your child, “Did anything today feel scary or hard?” Listen, then say, “Jesus is with us when we’re scared! Let’s pray and ask Him to help us.” Then pray, “Dear Jesus, thank You for being with us. Please help us trust You when we feel scared. We love You. In Your name we pray, amen.”
