Main Point: The Bible helps me tell others about Jesus.
Bible Story: Philip and the Man from Ethiopia ● Acts 8:26-35
Memory Verse: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

As a family, read “Philip and the Man from Ethiopia” (Acts 8:26-35) from the Bible. CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • What was the man from Ethiopia doing when Philip met him? (He was riding in his chariot and reading the Bible, but he didn’t understand it.)

  • How did Philip help him? (Philip sat with him, explained what the Bible said about Jesus, and told him the good news.)

  • How can the Bible help us tell others about Jesus? (We can read the Bible, learn about Jesus, and then tell others what we learned.)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

  • When You Get Up: When your child wakes up, say, “Good morning! God gave us the Bible so we can learn about Jesus and so we can tell others about Him. Let’s think of someone we can tell, ‘Jesus loves you!’ today.”!

  • While You’re At Home: As your child get ready or plays, practice the memory verse together with the motions:

“Your word (open hands like a book)
is a lamp for my feet, (point down toward your feet)
a light (open and close fists like a light)
on my path.” (extend hands forward)
Psalms 119:105

  • As You’re On The Way: As you ride or walk, say, “The Bible helps us tell others about Jesus!” Invite your child to repeat it with you each time you see a sign with letters on it.

  • When You Lie Down: At bedtime, tell your child, “Philip used the Bible to help someone learn about Jesus. The Bible can help us too!” Ask, “What do we learn about Jesus in the Bible?”
