Main Point: The Bible helps me help others.
Bible Story: Tabitha and Timothy ● Acts 9:36-39; 1 Timothy 4:12
Memory Verse: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

As a family, read about Tabitha (Acts 9:36-39) and Timothy (1 Timothy 4:12) from the Bible. CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • What did Tabitha do to help others? (She made clothes and cared for people who needed help.)

  • What did Paul tell Timothy he could do, even though he was young? (He could show others how to follow and love Jesus.)

  • How can you help others this week? (e.g., share toys, be kind, make a card, help a neighbor, or pray for someone, etc.)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

  • When You Get Up: When your child wakes up, say, “Good morning, little helper! God gave us the Bible to show us how to help others. Let’s look for ways we can help people today, just like Tabitha and Timothy helped others.”

  • While You’re At Home: As you’re getting ready for the day or cleaning up toys, practice the memory verse with the motions:

“Your word (open hands like a book)
is a lamp for my feet, (point down toward your feet)
a light (open and close fists like a light)
on my path.” (extend hands forward)
Psalms 119:105

  • As You’re On The Way: While you ride or walk, look for people (in cars, on the sidewalk, or in stores). Each time you see someone, say, “God loves the world so much. He gave us Jesus!” Then say, “We can show God’s love by smiling, using kind words, and helping others.”

  • When You Lie Down: At bedtime, ask your child, “How did you help others today?” Celebrate even small moments, like sharing, listening, or saying kind words. Then pray, “God, thank You for the Bible that helps us know how to help others. Show us how we can keep helping people like Tabitha and Timothy. We love You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
