What We Are Learning In Preschool :: July Week 2
July Overview: This month, preschoolers will learn God is with them and makes them strong. When they feel afraid, sad, or alone, they can trust God and go. God helps them take their next step!
Bible Story: God Strengthens David (1 Samuel 20:32-42)
Main Point: When I'm sad, I trust God and go!
Memory Verse: "The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
As a family, read the Bible story together. Then, watch this week’s lesson video on the eKidz Online YouTube page to continue the conversation.
This week, children heard how David felt very sad when he had to say goodbye to his friend Jonathan. Even though David was sad, he trusted God and kept going. This story helps us understand that when we feel sad, we can trust God because He gives us strength and helps us take our next step.
💬 Family discussion questions:
What happened in the Bible story? (David was sad when he had to leave his friend Jonathan.)
Did God help David when he felt sad? (yes)
When you feel sad, can you trust God and go? (yes)
🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:
When You Get Up: When your child wakes up, say, "No matter how you feel today, God is with you and gives you strength."
While You’re At Home: If your child feels disappointed or sad, help them talk about their feelings. Then encourage them to choose one positive thing to do next, reminding them that God helps us keep going.
As You’re On The Way: Ask your child about something that made them happy or sad recently. Talk about how David trusted God even when he was sad and how God helps us move forward too.
When You Lie Down: At bedtime, ask, "What made you smile today?" and "What was hard today?" Pray together, thanking God for being with you through every feeling and for giving you strength for tomorrow.
