What We Are Learning In Preschool :: September Week 1
September Overview: This month, preschoolers will continue learning that God helps us grow to be more like Him! As they learn about the fruit of the Spirit, they’ll see they can show God to others through the way they live.
Bible Story: David Chooses What Is Right (1 Samuel 26:1-11)
Main Point: God is GOOD! I can show goodness.
Memory Verse: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)

This week, children learned that David had the chance to hurt Saul, even though Saul had been trying to hurt him. But David chose to follow God and do what was right instead. God is good, and He helps us show goodness too. We can show God to others when we follow Him and choose what is right, even when it’s hard.

What happened in today’s Bible story? (David had the chance to hurt Saul, but he chose not to.)
Did David choose to follow God and do what was right? (Yes!)
How can you choose to do what is right, even when it’s hard?
🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:
When You Get Up: Tell your child, “God is good, and He helps us show goodness too! What’s one good choice you can make today? When we make right choices, that shows goodness!”
While You’re At Home: Look for opportunities to practice goodness and making right choices, like telling the truth, sharing, helping clean up, or obeying the first time. Celebrate by saying, “You showed goodness by choosing what was right!”
As You’re On The Way: Talk about a time when doing the right thing might feel hard. Ask, “What would it look like to show goodness in this situation?” Remind your child that God helps us show goodness by following Him and making good choices.
When You Lie Down: Ask your child, “How did you show goodness today?” Thank God for being good, and ask Him to help your family show His goodness by choosing what is right, even when it’s hard.
