Sermon Summary

  • Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. preached from Hebrews 6 to show us that even though we can forget God, He promises never to forget us. God knows us, and He keeps receipts, but it’s not to shame us; it’s to save us.

Sermon Highlights

  • Faith fades when memory fails

  • Even though we forget God, He promises not to forget us

  • God doesn't keep receipts to shame you; He keeps receipts to save you

  1. God keeps receipts on who you are

    • He is a God of individuals

    • God is in the business of working through broken people

  2. God keep receipts on what you do

    • It’s not hard to have faith at the start. It’s hard to have faith in the middle.

    • Repetition creates reputation

    • Your gain is in your again

    • If you build anything worth building, you’ll attract critics worth ignoring

  3. God keeps receipts on how you do it

    • The difference between a relationship and religion is motivation

    • If we’re not careful, we’ll just assume someone else has got it

    • What you behold is what you become

    • You’re not called to a life of convenience. You’re called to a life of conviction.

Scriptures

Read this week’s scriptures. Ask your group what stands out to them.

Sermon Discussion

Conversation Starter

Choose the one that works best for your group!

  • We can all be forgetful from time to time. What’s something you forget easily? (e.g., dates, events, keys, names)

  • Our church turned 20 this year. Pastor Rich and his wife are about to celebrate their 20th anniversary, too. Where were you 20 years ago?

Discussion Questions

  • “Faith fades when memory fails.” Share a memory of a time God moved in your life.

  • “God is in the business of working through broken people.” Pastor Rich shared a long list of people God used in the Bible who seemed unqualified (see below). How does this encourage you that God wants to work in your life, too?

  • “Repetition creates reputation.” What do you think God’s calling you to put on repeat right now?

  • “It’s not hard to have faith at the start. It’s hard to have faith in the middle.” What are you in the middle of that you need to have the faith to stay in?

  • “You’re not called to a life of convenience. You’re called to a life of conviction.” What has God given you conviction for that you think He may be calling you to act on?

Prayer Prompt

Ask your eGroup if they have any prayer requests or praise reports they’d like to share, and include them in your closing prayer.

Pray this prayer over your eGroup to close, and/or send it to them throughout the week to let them know you’re praying for them!

Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for seeing us uniquely and for loving us for who we are. I pray that you help each of us to become more aware of Your presence in our lives this week, and that we don’t allow any outside voices or previous circumstances to dictate how we allow You to use us. I pray that You help each of us to stay near to You this week. Amen.
