Sermon Summary

  • We often ask God to do what we want, but faith starts with doing what He says. When you trust God as your good Father and follow His prompting, even small steps can unlock something big.

Sermon Highlights

  • Sometimes God will prompt your heart in order to provide for somebody in a way that you can't predict.

  • A good Father provides for His children.

  • Two things about God:

    (1) God provides for you

    (2) God prompts you.

  • You don’t prompt God. God prompts you.

  • Just because you’ve been discipled once doesn’t mean you’re fully developed. Sometimes we need to be “re-cipled.”

  • Mary's prayer wasn't “Jesus, do whatever I tell you.” It was, “Do whatever He tells you.”

  • You’re not holding God in your hands. He’s holding you in His hands.

  • If you will do whatever He told you, you will see Him do exceedingly, abundantly above all you ask or think or imagine.

  • When God prompts you with something, he will give you a small prompt with a big purpose.

  • We often pray, “God, may MY word to you be fulfilled,” but Mary prayed, “God, may YOUR word to me be fulfilled.”

  • Is God prompting you to make a difference?

  • Do whatever He tells you. And then get ready, because when you do what you can do, God will do what you cannot do.

Sermon Discussion

Conversation Starter

  • Pastor Steven talked about paying for Graham’s tab at a restaurant. If someone surprised you by paying your tab at a restaurant, where would you want it to be?

Discussion Questions

  • “Two things about God: (1) God provides for you (2) God prompts you.” Which one of these do you want to be more aware of in this season, and why?

  • “You don’t prompt God. God prompts you.” What’s one area where you might be prompting God more than listening for His direction?

Additional Questions

  • “Sometimes God will prompt your heart in order to provide for somebody in a way that you can't predict.” Who might God be prompting you to bless right now?

  • “When God prompts you with something, He will give you a small prompt with a big purpose.” What’s a small step of obedience God might be asking you to take this week?

Prayer Prompt

Ask your eGroup if they have any prayer requests or praise reports they’d like to share, and include them in your closing prayer.

Pray this prayer over your eGroup to close, and/or send it to them throughout the week to let them know you’re praying for them!

Ask your eGroup: What word are you choosing for 2026, and what does this word mean to you?
Pray: Lord, thank You for being such a good Father, and thank You for the opportunity to bless others during this Year-End season. Please bless the words that we’ve chosen for 2026, and use them to deepen our relationship with You and strengthen our faith. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
