Make It Personal
Pastor Steven talked about how we sometimes respond out of rationale to what God has given us in revelation. Have you ever felt like God was telling you to do something that seemed crazy in the moment?
“I expect God to direct me.” What is something you’re expecting God to do in your life? Or share with the group when God has directed you in the past that gives you confidence when He directs you again.
Pastor Steven said, “Since I expect the Good Shepherd to direct me, I have to accept the correction He gives.” When someone who holds value in your life corrects you, that is an investment. Why do you think it can still be hard to accept corrections that are given to us?
Share a time with the group when you received correction from someone who holds value in your life that hurt initially, but eventually led to growth.
Galatians 3:3 says, “Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?” What have you been trying to do on your own terms that God gave you in His Spirit?
Sometimes, you have to go through a place in your life that you don’t like to be able to sit in a place that you do like. What is God bringing you through in your life that is hard or uncomfortable? What are you expecting to get out of that place that will be helpful in other places of life?
We learned from this week’s sermon that we should stop trying to figure it out in the flesh and start looking to the Spirit. What is something you have been trying to figure out in your life that you can start trusting God with in faith today?
Go Deeper & Act On It
Read through Psalm 23:1-4. List out three areas in your life that you are going to let the Him shepherd this week.
Read Ephesians 3:20. In a journal or a note on your phone, write down some things that you’re expecting God to do in your life.
Prayer Requests And Prayer
Ask eGroup members to share any prayer requests they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for each other during the week.God, Thank you for each person in this eGroup. I pray that we would put our trust in you. You are the Good Shepherd. You restore us, redirect us and rewrite our story. May we choose to not live by our senses but choose to live by the Spirit. You are the one that will sustain us, not our flesh. May we take your correction as leading us on the right path. Thank you for leading us and directing us. Amen!
