Sermon Summary

  • There’s nothing you could ever go under that God isn’t over. His authority isn’t meant to control you with fear but to lead you with love. When you trust His commands and surrender to His control, you can rest in His protection.

Sermon Highlights

  • There’s nothing that I could ever go under that He isn’t over. Jesus has authority.

  • We’ve surrendered our lives to Jesus, but we’re struggling with submitting to His authority.

  • Go underneath the authority of God.

  • I’m going under…

    • Under Control

      • When you made a decision to give your life to Jesus, your life became His jurisdiction.

      • If you see authority through the lens of anger, your relationship with God will be driven by fear. But if you see authority through the lens of love, your relationship will be driven by appreciation.

      • He’s in control so you don’t crash.

    • Under Cover

      • In order to receive His protection, there has to be a level of trust.

      • We reject His commands, but we love His covering. I can’t have His covering without His commands.

    • Under Construction

      • Everything under my roof is under His authority.

      • He knows how to put pieces back together. He knows how to fix what was broken.

  • When the King speaks a word, it cannot be overturned, it’s as good as done.

Scriptures

Read this week’s scriptures. Ask your group what stands out to them.

Sermon Discussion

Conversation Starter

Choose the one that works best for your group!

  • Pastor Chet told a story about going on a vacation with his wife. What was the last vacation or trip you took?

  • Pastor Chet talked about teaching his 14-year-old twin boys how to drive. What was learning to drive like for you?

Discussion Questions

  • “There’s nothing that I could ever go under that He isn’t over.” Share a time when something felt out of control, but you later saw God’s hand over it.

  • How has your view of authority (from past experiences or relationships) shaped the way you see God?

  • “We reject His commands, but we love His covering. I can’t have His covering without His commands.” What command or direction from God do you need to follow more closely right now?

  • “In order to receive His protection, there has to be a level of trust.” What’s an area where it’s been difficult to trust God, and what’s one step you can take to surrender that area to Him this week?

  • “When the King speaks a word, it cannot be overturned, it’s as good as done.” What promise or truth from God are you holding onto in this season?

Prayer Prompt

Ask your eGroup if they have any prayer requests or praise reports they’d like to share, and include them in your closing prayer.

Pray this prayer over your eGroup to close, and/or send it to them throughout the week to let them know you’re praying for them!

Lord, thank You for being trustworthy. Your authority and control are always at work for our good, protecting us and restoring everything we thought was broken. As we go throughout our week, please help us continue to see Your authority through the lens of love as we surrender more and more of our lives to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
