Stop Crying, It’s Coming
Pastor Steven Furtick
Conversation Starters
You’re attending Elevation Nights, and you get to request two songs for them to sing. Which two do you pick?
On a scale of 1-10, how easily do you cry? (1 is very easily, 10 is not easily at all)
Solomon’s temple had a LOT of gold in it. If you could have one item made of gold, what would it be?
Review
Ask eGroup members to share their favorite points from the sermon, what spoke to them, a phrase or moment from the sermon they related to the most, or questions they have. If members have a hard time recalling the sermon, talk through your notes and share your favorite points.
Make It Personal
When you hear the word “template,” what comes to mind first? How did this message change the way you think about it?
How does your template influence the way you see things around you? (e.g., your relationships, your job, your church, etc.)
Read Haggai 2:1-9. Some of the people in this passage were comparing this temple to the “template” of Solomon’s temple. Share some ways you’ve had to rebuild or reinvent your template in the past few years. (How has God challenged your template? What are some ways He’s led you to reinvent it?)
The people who got to see Solomon’s temple were discouraged during the rebuilding process because the new temple didn’t look like the former one. What’s something you’ve been wishing could be like it was before? How can you approach it with the expectancy that God is going to do a new thing?
Go deeper: Read John 11:35-43. “He cried. He came. He called.” How have you experienced these parts of Jesus’ nature in your life? Which of these do you need to do now?
Rs of reinvention:
Remnant — Where have you been so focused on what (or who) left that you’re missing what’s left?
Reforming — Talk about some ways you might be resisting God as He works to reform you.
Act On It
This week, identify something that hasn’t turned out like you expected or hasn’t “returned to normal.” Ask God to give you the comfort and the vision to stop weeping and start working in that area. Pray for your eyes to be opened to the new template He’s giving you in this season.Memorize Romans 8:18 and declare over yourself every day, “My best days are ahead of me.”
Prayer Requests And Prayer
Ask eGroup members to share any prayer requests they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for members during the week. Father, thank You for being willing to meet us anywhere. Please reform our hearts and give us the strength to do the work You’ve called us to. Open our eyes to the remnants You’ve left in our lives. We praise You because we believe our best days are ahead of us! In Jesus’ name, amen.
