Conversation Starters

  • There are a lot of exciting things happening this summer in our church (LOVE Week, YTHX, Elevation Worship Summer Tour, and Pop-Up Worship Experiences)! What’s something you’re excited about doing this summer?

  • Dr. Dharius says we all have unique things that bother us. What are some of your pet peeves?

Review

Ask eGroup members to share their favorite points from the message, what spoke to them, a phrase or moment they related to the most, or questions they have. If members have a hard time recalling the message, talk through your notes and share your favorite points.

Make It Personal

  • Dr. Dharius said that, “You will always behave in a way that’s consistent with how you see yourself.” What’s one of your favorite qualities about yourself?

  • God says we’re sought, chosen, special, and anointed. But that doesn’t always match our experience. Name an experience that you felt didn’t align with what God says about you. Can you think of any practical ways you can begin to believe the truth of who God says you are instead of negative thoughts based on our experience(s)?

  • Read 1 Samuel 17:39. King Saul advised David to fight a giant with his armor, even though it didn’t fit the young warrior. Share a time when you’ve gone against the well-meaning advice of others to do what’s best. How can we identify when it’s time to follow the guidance of others and when we shouldn’t?

  • Moses, Jeremiah, and Gideon all battled with feelings of inadequacy when God called them into their divine assignments. What is something that you know God has called you to? Is there anything that makes you feel like you’re not enough or don’t have what it takes to be who God called you to be? What truth can you replace that thought with to help you walk confidently in your calling?

  • Read 1 Samuel 16:1. In this passage, God tells Samuel to end his emotional attachment to a season that’s ended because God had better plans for him. Share a time when you moved on from something you were emotionally attached to and saw that God had greater plans for you.

  • “Difference-makers are different.” What’s something that’s made you feel different? How can you embrace your unique design more this week?

Act On It

“Your rock works!” Dr. Dharius encourages us not to let any enemy or negative thoughts talk us out of using our “rocks” or God-given gifts. Write down one challenge you’re facing this week and which rocks you’ll use to overcome them (e.g. rocks of praise, journaling, prayer, etc.).

Prayer Requests And Prayer

Ask eGroup members to share any prayer requests they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for each other during the week.Father, thank You for creating us with unique gifts. Help us align our thoughts about ourselves with who You’ve called us to be. Thank you for being a God who guides us when so many other influences are trying to get our attention. May we believe that we are called and chosen for the great things You are preparing us to do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
