FAQs

1. How will my teenager be assigned to an eGroup?

If your teenager is currently in an eGroup, he or she will be assigned to a group with their existing eGroup Leader. If your teenager is not connected to an eGroup, the Youth Director at your campus will assign him or her to an eGroup based on their grade, geographical location, and gender. Youth can request to be in a group with a particular friend or a particular leader at the time of registration.

2. How are eGroup Leaders chosen?

All eGroup Leaders are required to complete an eGroup Leader application, attend an interview conducted by an Elevation Staff member, and have a background check in order to be approved to lead an eGroup. We prioritize the safety of our youth, and we select our eGroup Leaders with the mindset of keeping our youth as safe as possible.

3. Where will my teenager be sleeping?

The eGroup that your youth is with during YTHX will be assigned to a dorm at UNCC, which is located in North Charlotte. Dorms provide a centralized location for all youth to be housed. Both the leaders and the youth in each group will be spending the night at an assigned dorm for each night of their YTHX experience. Middle schoolers will be spending Sunday and Monday night at their dorm, and high schoolers will be spending Tuesday night to Thursday night at their dorm. All youth and leaders will be housed with or near their eGroup. The dorms will be divided by gender and church campus so your youth will be with familiar faces. We will also have dorm monitor volunteers, who have been background checked, and who will be keeping an eye on the halls to ensure that youth are safely in their assigned rooms throughout the night. If you are interested in helping support your teenager’s eGroup (or any group) by being a dorm monitor during YTHX, you can register under the “Volunteer” tab.

4. How will my teenager get to all of the YTHX events?

eGroup leaders and approved transportation volunteers will be transporting youth in their personal vehicles to Ballantyne and any events less than 30 miles away. Buses will be used for any trips beyond a 30-mile drive. If the number of youth in a group exceeds the amount of seats in a vehicle, the eGroup leader is responsible for recruiting a transportation volunteer to register for the event. Transportation volunteers do not participate in the YTHX activities. Drivers will not be allowed to operate a cell phone while the vehicle is on, and all youth will have an individual seat belt. All eGroup Leader and transportation applicants will have their backgrounds checked and have a driving history check before being approved to drive youth for the event. If you’re interested in helping support your teenager’s eGroup by driving during YTHX, you can register under the “Volunteer” tab.

5. How can I get in contact with my teenager in case of emergency?

The best way to get in contact with your teenager is through their eGroup Leader, who will provide his or her contact information on the first day of YTHX at check-in. If you are interested in serving on the medical team or as a campus safety volunteer during YTHX, you can register under the “Volunteer” tab.

6. How will parents be contacted in case of emergency?

An Elevation staff member will call the emergency contact phone number you provide when you register your youth.

7. Are there opportunities for me to volunteer at YTHX?

Yes! We love when parents serve at Youth events! There are several volunteer roles that you can take, such as being a dorm monitor, driving a group to and from YTHX activities, serving on the medical team, or helping create a great atmosphere for our youth during the worship experiences. You can register or learn more about all of our volunteer roles at YTHX under the “Volunteer” tab.

8. My teenager has food allergies. Is there a way to accommodate meals for my child?

Yes! We’re excited to announce that we’re offering meal plans for those who have food allergies and dietary conditions. During registration, youth can sign up for one of three meal plans: regular, gluten-free, or vegetarian. If your teenager has specific allergies, we recommend sending them with meals and snacks they can have on hand.

9. Will I be able to get a refund if my youth can no longer attend YTHX?

Unfortunately, refunds are not available. However, if you have enrolled in a payment plan and can no longer attend YTHX, you can cancel your plan and will not be charged for remaining months. If you need to cancel while registration is still open, you can transfer your registration to cover someone who has not registered yet. After registration closes, we will not be able to transfer or add any additional participants.

10. My teenager wants to invite a friend. How can they be in the same eGroup?

We love when youth invite their friends! When completing the online registration, there’s an option that says, “I would like to be in an eGroup with___.”  Both friends must also fill out the same information when registering to be placed in the same eGroup. This enables the Youth Director at your campus to place both youth in the same eGroup. If you forgot to request a specific friend to be placed with, you can update this information in the parent portal link in your confirmation email.

11. Why does YTHX cost more for high schoolers?

YTHX provides an additional day of activities for high schoolers.

12. Can I pay using a payment plan?

Yes. You have the option of either paying for YTHX in full upon registration or enrolling in a monthly payment plan. Payments are due the 1st or 15th of every month leading up to YTHX. Monthly payments are broken down by the full amount divided by the number of months until YTHX. Your first payment is due at registration, and subsequent payments are automatically withdrawn in the following months.

Note: If you register a few days before the selected payment date, you will still be charged first at the time of registration and then AGAIN on the payment date. (i.e., If you register on the 14th and select the 15th as your payment date, one payment will come out on the 14th, and a second payment will come out the next day, on the 15th.)

13. Will my teenager need spending money?

Youth will need to bring about $20 for spending money for one meal during YTHX. We will also have YTHX apparel throughout the week if they are interested in purchasing these items. Apparel prices typically range from $5 socks to $40 hoodies.
