When They Found Out

Discussion Guide

Conversation Starters

  • You find out you have to make dinner for four people and have a budget of $10. What do you make?
  • Pastor Steven’s son eventually found out his dad wasn’t a great athlete. What’s something you thought as a kid and you eventually found out something different about it?
  • You’re going on a trip — are you an over-packer or an under-packer? How many bags do you average for a trip?

Make It Personal

  • Sometimes, you need to walk around in your life and take inventory — you’ve always got plenty of something. What do you have plenty of right now?
  • Read John 6:5-7. Philip was counting all the stuff they needed that they didn’t have. We all have a Philip inside of us telling us what we need. On a scale of 1-10, how strong is the “Philip” inside you? Where in your life have you been counting “how many”?
    • Read Exodus 16:14-20. The Israelites had just as much manna as they needed. How does counting “how many” keep you worried about tomorrow? How does that impact your faith?
  • Jesus is enough for everything you will face, and you are enough for right now. How does that release you from pressure you’ve been feeling or worries/burdens you’ve been carrying?
    • “Jesus is enough for everything you will face.” What are some practical ways we can remind ourselves of this? Why do we need to keep this truth close to us?
  • Read John 6:8-13. They didn’t find out how much it was until they put it in the hands of Jesus. What do you need to entrust to God so He can show you how much it is? How can you do that?

Act On It

God wants us to keep coming back to Him. Set up a reminder to do something simple each day this week to come back to God for what you need.

Prayer Requests And Prayer

Ask eGroup members to share any prayer requests they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for members during the week.
Father, You are enough. Help us be mindful of that this week, and show us all the areas around us where we have plenty because of You. Give us strength to bring to You whatever we think is little so you can show us how much it really is. In Jesus’ name, amen.
